Gardens of western Sicily

Monday 8 to Monday 15 May 2023

Our trip will start with lunch in Palermo on Monday followed by an afternoon garden visit. Members arriving on early morning flights can be met at Palermo airport, whilst those who prefer a more relaxed start to explore historic Palermo may wish to arrive on previous days.

In the following days in Palermo, we will visit historic gardens in the company of garden historian, Cassandra Fusten; public gardens and the historic site of Monreale.

On Friday we will transfer to Trapani via the ancient Greek site of Segesta, followed by a garden visit. The following day is to be spent at Racalia where we will be hosted by MPG member Alison Richards and have the opportunity to see the historic family garden restored by Alison. The afternoon will be spent on the Island of Mozia. Our final day will include a visit to the ancient Greek site of Selinunte, as well as a garden visit and a visit to an aromatic plant nursery.

The cost of the trip (including hotels, lunches and dinners, wine with dinner, local transport, entrance fees and guiding) will be £1,430 per person sharing a room or £1,740 for single occupancy. Transfers from Palermo airport to the hotel on Monday morning and from Trapani to Palermo airport on the following Monday morning are included in the cost. Flights are not included.
