Fabulous and exclusive Corfu gardens

Monday 22 – Monday 29 April 2024

This spring tour, led by member Anne Keenan, will feature an exceptional selection of private gardens in the north of the island. Members will be guided by designers, head gardeners, estate managers and owners. Walks led by knowledgeable members and friends living locally will provide opportunities to photograph spring wild flowers. Visits will include Gastouri and the Rothschild estate which has beautiful courtyards paved by the painter and sculptor Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas. Participants will be based in a hotel in the centre of Corfu town and there will be time to explore the town itself and to visit at leisure the old British cemetery with its wild orchids and specimen trees. Two walks of one to three hours will be in the programme and a member who might, in the opinion of the leader, hold other members up, may be asked not to join the longer walk. Maximum 24 members. To book, please complete this form and send a deposit of £500 per person now.  The total cost per person sharing will be £820, to include meals excluding three dinners on days when a substantial lunch is planned. Most members don’t want two big meals in a day so simple restaurants near the hotel will be suggested for days when a taverna lunch is provided. Other lunches will be picnics. Cold drinks (other than water) and coffees will be for personal account. Garden entrances included. Single supplement £254. The final payment to be paid by 11 March. Do not send payment or book flights until you have been assured that you have a place. Thanks to Joanna Fortnam for her research on the gardens. Contact Heather Martin with any queries.
