There is a new facility accessible via the MEMBERS’ AREA of the MPG website where members can communicate about Mediterranean plants and gardens, for example sharing news and photographs publicly, or posting a message only to members.

You can choose whether to categorise your post as NEWS, which will be publicly visible on the News page of the MPG website.

Alternatively, for example if you have a question, you can select the MEMBERS ONLY category. These posts can only be read and responded to by members, by logging in to the Members’ Area of the MPG website.  An email will automatically alert all MPG members when a new post is added under the category MEMBERS ONLY.

Once submitted, your post will then be checked and uploaded by the Management Committee to the relevant section of the MPG website.

We hope members will enjoy using this new facility to ask questions and share knowledge.

The photograph is of the Knersvlakte, an area in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, one of the locations that we visited during the MPG tour in August 2025. The landscape of this area is characterised by undulating plains capped with white quartz pebbles. The Knersvlakte lies within the Succulent Karoo biome and plants here have adapted to the arid environment and saline soils, being small in size and often succulent. Many are in the Crassulaceace and Aizoaceae families, such as ‘bababoudjies’ (Argyroderma species) and ‘krapogies’ (Oophytum oviforme).
